Mandatory Gear List

Competitors are responsible for their own food, drinks, and
electrolyte replacement. There will be spot checks during the race for mandatory team and personal gear. Racers without the proper gear will be disqualified. Climbing helmets and ropes will be provided at the rappel station. 

Personal: per competitor, to be carried throughout the race
 
*  Knife with minimum 2.5" blade, folding OK
*  Whistle
*  Headlamp with extra batteries
*  Emergency space blanket
*  Lighter or other weatherproof fire starter
*  Copy of photo id
 
First aid kit:  per team/soloist to be carried throughout the race
*  Ace bandage
*  Sterile gauze pads (two, 3" - 4" in size)
*  Betadine, iodine or alcohol pads (two)
*  Medical tape (at least 1" x 24")
 
Paddling leg: per competitor
 
*  Non-motorized canoe or kayak with paddles
   -  Racers providing their own boats may paddle either a canoe or kayak
   -  Teams who choose to paddle kayaks must follow the proximity rule
   -  Teams who rent boats will be provided canoes with canoe paddles
   -  Soloists who rent boats will be provided kayaks with kayak paddles
   -  PFDs and paddles are included with rental; racers may bring their own
 
*  Type 3, Coast Guard approved, non-inflatable PFD
*  Knife attached to PFD
*  Whistle attached to PFD
 
Bike leg:  per competitor
 
*  Mountain bike
*  White light on front of bike (headlamp OK)
*  Red flashing light on rear of bike
*  Bike helmet, ANSI/Snell or CPSC approved
 
Rappelling/Ropes leg: per competitor
 
*  Climbing harness, CE approved
*  Two locking carabiners
*  One rappel/belay device
*  7 mm cord tied into a Prusik loop 55" - 60" in circumference
